Nowadays, we have different types of printers that are out and available in the market. One is laser printer. Laser printers have come a long way, from the earlier types that are made from modified photocopy machines that are expensive, to what we have currently that are affordable and efficient. Laser printers basically work by producing photos using patterns of similarly-sized dots to make the appearance of a continuous tone. If we would compare the output to what is from inkjet printers, the result would depended on the dot sizes than the size of inkjet droplets. Some digital presses uses toners, but such outputs are negated by printer at higher resolution formats, than desktop toners, and the number of dots can be controlled digitally.
Laser printing is not just utilized for printing images and photographs. Its high vibrancy is being used for printing businesses, in the sense that it’s used to customize consumable items.
Specially-designed laser papers are used for laser printers; they are coated so that they would be able to absorb laser inks. Laser opaque papers can be used to transfer designs on fabrics, specifically, t-shirts. Just print your designs and they are heat transferrable. Laser printing, is not only modern and innovative, but is cost efficient as well, because if you utilize this method for your printing you do not need to use sublimation processes, you just need to use transfer papers such as the i-Transfer transfer paper, for you to have your designs in most consumable items that you can think of; pens, mugs, keychains, without needing to buy such items with specific sublimation coatings.
To see how much production would cost with laser printing, here is an estimate; if you would be using laser opaque paper for this process, it would cost 25 Php for an A4 sheet of paper, 5 Php for the printing cost, including the toner that you would use, and 2 Php for electricity consumption per items pressed. So that would be just 32 pesos. If you would produce a shirt, piece will cost you Php 128. So 128+32=160. That’s the total production cost. You can sell each shirt for around 250 Php above, depending on the complexity and quality of the design.
For using i-Transfer paper for laser printing, here is an estimate if you would use it on particular consumable items; ballpens or mugs. So for ballpens, a piece of i-Transfer paper will cost 35 Php, a ballpen would cost 10-20 pesos depending on the type, 5 cents would be per print, assuming a single paper can cover many designs. Production would be 2 Php for electricity consumption. So, say a 10-peso worth pen would cost 12.5 Php to produce, excluding the paper, because one sheet would be able to cover 100+ pieces of pen. So you can retail the pens at 15 pesos each, and the higher type of pen would cost 25-30 Php per piece. For mugs, costing would be like this: A mug without any special coating would be priced at 20 Php apiece, a sheet of A4 transfer paper is 35 Php, which can accommodate 3 designs for 3 mugs, and 5 Php for the printing (full a4 printing), and 2 Php per mug for electricity consumption. So if a single sheet would be enough for 3 designs, it would run for 12 pesos for each mug, so for one mug its 20+12+5+2= 39 Php per mug, which you can sell for 70-150 Php, depending on the design.
